Part of the Warmth Citrus Herb collection.
In these times of discrimination and sickness, I know I am in need of heat, health and good things. Each work from this collection has brought me life in the studio and will bring life-juice at home whether on the screen or live when collecting one of the works. These large and small works have accompanied me and will accompany you in this wild time of uncertainty. Talk about going with the flow. I both inhale and express in the studio. Hide and stand tall and make large, textural, and bright marks as well as quiet subtle washes of pigment.
*please expect additional framing and shipping costs. Local delivery is possible. Please see “Collect” tab for framing and shipping info.

These lively and wild prints have a narrative quality to them. As if they tell a story. A story of confusion and floating in a space-scape and then being in all this wild together with someone else. The first print is titled, "Where The Fuck Am I?" One floating white circle in the wild spacescape of color, the second reads, "Right Where I am." Where one larger white circle on the top right and a smaller white embossed circle in the dark blue. The circles cut out of the plates to create the crisp white embossed circles.
More about the process and collaboration with CAP in my blog post about the diptych.

Scribbled stream of consciousness, floating inkblot. Nature exudes in this pair of prints.

acrylic, oil, ink, and spray on stretched, unprimed canvas
2020
This work is on natural raw linen. Very thin, transparent linen.
Motherhood turned me, representational artist, into abstract expressionist. Losing my first baby in miscarriage exposed how little control I have. Grieving, freed me to let go and create intuitively and improvise in the studio. Painting with a detailed plan and total control felt almost wrong to me.
My aim in the studio is to ebb and flow with the process, be present, and play with the paint, play in a serious manner, as children do.
I am artist-mother in restraint and perpetual release.

My work comes from a place of control and wild. Learning to let go and create freely. The Lush Restraint series layers color and material on writing stream of consciousness and thick impasto marks. Nature within and around me is not able to be contained.
This work was commissioned by the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and is hanging in their library there.

Part of the Soft AF collection. 🌻
I push and pull the pigment in the water, let it flow, stagnate, stop.
Rest. Soak. Stain.
I see a leaning in me in the studio and flow… I make with my hands showing up daily, not worrying about anything being finished. Consider concept, but don’t get hung up on it. Keep showing up in the studio. Continue to make, have your hands moving and pay attention to further inspiration and parallels.
This work seems to be just that Soft, Receptive and Fluid nature of the work. The shapes are organic and flowing into one another. They are layered washes and textured with an ink-jot abstract emotion-scape.
Finding strength in the softness.
