Silent Auction
Dearest Collectors,
It's with great pleasure that I present my newest body of work to you.
In these times of discrimination and sickness, I know I am in need of heat, health and good things. Each work from this collection has brought me life in the studio and will bring life juice at home whether on the screen or in person when visiting or collecting one of the works. These large and small works have accompanied me and will accompany you in this wild time of uncertainty.
Honestly, I don’t quite know what the work is about yet. As an abstract expressionist, I get into the studio and work very intuitively. Sometimes it takes months for me to realise what came from my inner landscape and translated on to the canvas. That is the fun part. It keeps me so curious in the studio, keeps me coming back.
Talk about going with the flow. Don’t you feel you are having to let go of control now, more than ever? Really focusing in on your power and relinquishing the rest?
I both inhale and express in the studio. Hide and stand tall and make large, textural and bright mark as well as quiet subtle washes of pigment.
Please enjoy and flip through the catalogue and the shop below. Be in touch if you fall in love with something. There are still a few pieces left and most of the collection is hanging locally in Heidelberg. More info below.
Loving greetings from my studio,
Anna
Anna BAer, Abstract Expressionist
While studying art in Uni, in 2006, I first learned about the early Abstract Expressionists pushing the envelope in the visual arts in the 1950s. They painted on large wall sized canvas, painting from the heart, from the subconscious. I knew I wanted to paint like that. At that time I painted things that were recognisable and representational, portraits, figures, hot air balloons, you know the usual, lovely things.🌻 We are taught in art school to master technique and represent what we can see. I loved Drawing 101, don’t get me wrong but damn I wish they taught intro to expression.
There aren’t any rules in abstract art. Where do I even start?
I wanted to be expressive and free like those abstract artists I saw Helen Frankenthaler, Cy Twombly. The scale, originality and stroke of the work spoke directly to my artist. Mmmm bold expressive art.
It took 4 years of art uni, 5 years of teaching art, a miscarriage, and a new pregnancy to find my voice and finally find my voice as an abstract artist. Didn’t need to go through all that, but it has definitely shaped my work as an artist. Motherhood and painting go hand in hand for me. 🥰 Until now. Seasons are changing.
During my second pregnancy I began painting the circle. A controlled shape, with wild flowing colors within. Some of the circles burst out breaking the line, exploding with vibrancy and life. I realised I was grappling with my lack of control. I couldn’t control whether this baby would make it to full term. My influence is limited but I was beginning to letting go. 🌻
Now, I paint professionally. I have been for the past 4 years. I make large and small works. Circles and other organic shapes. Letting the painting guide me. Coming into the studio daily for the process, the act of creating, but also to bring beauty and life to those who collect my work and hang it in their homes.
My work is bright and bold and life-giving. A recent collector exclaimed how joy-giving my art was and how they loved having it hanging in their living/dining room adding to the space and to the conversation. So fun to see It bringing such life to so many. I love making work that has a lot of details that can be slowly discovered over time. Getting lost in the flow is my favourite. 🌻

Thank you for the support and interest.
If you could not acquire the painting you wanted, there is always the spring time collection. Let’s hope by then we will have more options. 🌻 I’m not going anywhere. I have many more paintings in me. No scarcity there.
Thank you very much for experiencing and enjoying my work. Thank you for supporting me personally and professionally. It means the world to me.
I have work hanging locally at Nomad Westadt as well as at Coffee Nerd at Adenauerplatz. They will be there until mid December 2020. 🥰 Please go and support local business while enjoying my work. 🥰
